I need to find out how to add some friends on here!
There has been an attack.
LJ Security Alert!
"There's been a breach of LJ security using embedded content, where post entries are edited to be public and contain malicious flash content".

The malicious code got into your LJ if you clicked on embedded content, worryingly it then make your private LJ posts public and reset your icon to the default, while also gleaning your email address. More grisly details from LJ themselves here

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] dahliablue for the heads-up. Am reposting for all those who had issues earlier.

Time to keep plugging for biomedical research into this disease ... www.investinme.org
Their conference is coming up soon.

Plus did anyone see that small piece on the Politics Show last Sunday? For those not in the UK, it featured a girl with ME who was studying but didn't qualify for any benefits because she wasn't deemed 'ill enough'. She went to Parliament to sit in on their working committee about ME and ended up speaking out, much to the amazement of the politicking gnomes all sat around discussing the 'issue' in safe isolation from anyone who actually has the disease.

Her name is Sam Brown, she is 24 and a journalism student. If you go to the BBC I-player site you can watch a repeat of it. It's right at the end so scroll along past the 1 hour marker and you should find it.

True Sam didn't 'look ill', well not to the untrained eye, but to those of us in the know her palour and vacant look were all too familiar. Oh and her hair. The hair said it all...

You know how it goes, when you're struggling just to be able to get up and go wherever you have to be, finding the energy to lift your hands above your head to fix the do just isn't possible. As someone who has spent the last 22 years whacking herself on the head whenever she uses a hairdryer (which may account for some cumulative cognitive dysfunction by now!), I could totally relate.
Go here to watch, (but don't forget to scroll past the hour marker).

ETA For those outside the UK, it's on UK YouTube clicky here

I don't have much to survive to be honest. As my Christmas only ever involves a total of 3 people.

another Christmas story )
Some of us knew her as Jessie Oliver, her pseudonym here on LJ where she blogged as [livejournal.com profile] _chaotictears_.

Those who met her in real life after she became ill have documented what they saw; a girl who could not speak, who could not move from her bed, her body broken by severe ME and forced into meltdown by the invention of misguided medical professionals. Those with little or no understanding of the critical importance of total rest during the initial stages of sudden-onset, acute ME.

Those of us who knew her online knew a different Lynn. We knew a bright, intelligent and optimistic girl with a lively spirit and a keen sense of humour who always had a kind word of support whenever one of us was feeling low.

Yesterday I discovered I'd lost a dear friend. I know that for Lynn it was the release she had desperately craved. For me and the rest of her friends her passing has left a huge a heart-shaped hole in all our lives.

I've started a Facebook group called 'Friends of Lynn Gilderdale', if you've got a Facebook account please join. If you'd like an email invite from me please drop your email addy in a message to belle_marmotte(at)hotmail.co.uk
Please make sure to put the co.uk NOT com!

As Lynn's mum has been arrested on suspicion of murder I think we need to rally all the support we can for her and her family.

My scroll is here for those who want to see what I've accumulated so far :)

I'm desperately trying to make my last deadline. I have one day to finish the troublesome essay on deep brain stimulation of the hypothalamus. Then I have to put all my work together (3 essays and an experimental report) make three copies of everything and smail mail it to them for the final assessment. It's going to be such a heavy package and cost a fortune to post (which I am a bit miffed about because the money has to come out of my own pocket.

Anyways up, wish me luck!!

After yesterday's D&M, I bring you, stolen from [livejournal.com profile] jehannamama

Your result for The What type of MAN turns you on Test...

Exotic bad-ass

You scored 60% masculine, 76% athletic, 55% exotic, and 44% refined!

You want everything in a man at the same time! Masculine, built like a Greek god, exotic and mysterious and even some bad-ass in there too. I think you would really like Freddy Ljungberg, the Swedish soccer player. He's the guy on the right. But let's face it, the whole point of this was to look at a bunch of hot guys. If you liked what you saw, please rate my test!

Take The What type of MAN turns you on Test at HelloQuizzy

So I like them more athletic and masculine and 55% exotic. Apparently.
What is happening to the weather?
Seriously.

I woke up at 10am and thought it was still night. I had to turn on the lights to be able to see where I was going down the stairs.

And it's cold. I'm sitting here in bed in need of putting the electric blanket on and my shoulders are freezing.

It AUGUST!! This is supposed to be summer!
Ok folks what can I do with ricotta cheese? I'm after something that is reasonably healthy and low cal? My reason for asking is that I heard Gordon Ramsey say it was low in fat and so I put it on my shopping list. However I put it in a baked potato and it tastes, well sweet, which was not good. Any ideas how to flavour it up a bit in a savoury way? All suggestions welcome.

Meme time!

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open it to page 161.
3. Find the fifth sentence.,
4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.
5. Don't search around and look for the coolest book you can find. Use what's actually next to you.
